Our Pledge
The Education Bureau is committed to safeguarding the privacy of individuals with respect to personal data. Our policies and practices on the collection, use, retention, disclosure, transfer, security and access of personal data comply with the requirements of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486).
Collection, Use, Security and Transfer of Data
If you visit the site as a guest, the site will only record your visit as a hit, but will not record any data which will identify the guest.
If you log in and visit the site as a registered user, the site will record information of your visit, such as the date when you log in for the first time, the level obtained, the total duration of log-in and the materials you browse. Your school has the right to check, collect, retain, use and process the information concerned. Generally, only the school administrator can manage the accounts of his/her school, and the statistics on students' use of the site can only be accessed by the school head, the school administrator as well as certain teachers.
Data regarding users' and guests' visit of the site will be used for compiling overall statistics, conducting research and providing education services.
We will ensure compliance by our staff with the requirements of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance. We will transfer or disclose your personal data to other Government departments, authorized agencies or relevant parties only if it is so required by law or the fulfillment of purposes directly or indirectly relating to the functions and activities of the Bureau.
If you send us an email to make an enquiry or express your opinions, the information you provide will be kept in safe custody. The information can be accessed only by staff members of the Bureau who need to use it. However, information transferred through the Web is not encrypted.
Making Changes to Personal Data
The School Administrator may make changes to the personal data of users of his/her school at anytime. Users can also change their own password and email address at anytime.
Cookie
We will transmit a cookie from the server to the user's browser and store it in the hard disk to record the user ID and keep the user logged in.
If you wish to reject the cookie, you may change the related setting on your browser. However, cookies must be enabled to use this site.
